"LINJE"

Linje is a high quality coffee machine inspired by the Norwegian landscape.

Norway has excelled in international barista competitions and is one of the countries in the world to consume the most coffee. Yet, coffee is not internationally recognised as a Norwegian tradition. With Linje, we wanted to challenge the Italian dominance in the coffee industry.

The machine uses fresh beans and always ensures you of an excellent cup of coffee. It is easy to operate and with some basic barista knowledge you can make any type of coffee based on an espresso. The manual function also allows you to fully take charge.

After deciding the overall design of the machine, we made a prototype which we presented to a focus group. We also made paper prototypes of the control panel. Changes were made on the basis of the feedback we received. The final model is made of layers of poplar wood which are sanded down and glued together.

The assignment was given by the Norwegian coffee manufacturer Solberg & Hansen. It was made in collaboration with Mariko Kurioka Rohde, Øystein Helle Husby and Åsne Kydland
